The new record in annual AGH Foundation Scholarship Awards has now reached $18,000, as the Autumn 2011 awards were presented in a ceremony on December 7 at Allegan General Hospital. The scholarship recipients were honored among their peers, family members, board members and others who attended to wish them well as they begin or continue their studies to gain further health care skills and knowledge to serve others. The Foundation’s scholarship awards are an important part of the organization’s mission to “invest in the health of our community.”
The scholarship recipients are as follows: Margaret Brown, Nursing Administration, Quality (Bachelor of Science in Nursing, University of Phoenix) Betty Clendenin, Emergency Department (Master’s in Nursing Education, Ferris State University) Kimberlee Hancox, Allegan Professional Health Services (Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration, University of Phoenix) Annette Smith, Emergency Department (Bachelor’s in Nursing, Ferris State University) Jeffrey Jousma (Physician’s Assistant, Master’s in Medicine, Western Michigan University); Lisa Striegle, Infection Prevention (Doctorate of Nursing Practice, University of South Alabama and American Sentinel University);Cynthia Williams, Medical/Surgical Unit, Telemetry (Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, Grand Canyon University).
Scholarships, made possible through donations to the Foundation, are awarded twice each year to members of the Allegan Health Care Group employee team, and during the spring round of awards also to area high school seniors pursuing health care studies in higher education. Scholarship applications for the spring round of awards are due April 20 to the Allegan General Hospital Foundation office (and October 20 for the Autumn Round).
